Xin Zhang presents findings on noise exposure, hearing loss, and cognitive decline at AAS conference

Xin Zhang presents research findings at AAS annual conference.

PhD candidate Xin Zhang presented research findings on the link between noise exposure, hearing loss, and cognitive decline at the American Auditory Society (AAS) annual Scientific and Technology Meeting.

After a week of focused research activity at the Johns Hopkins Cochlear Center in 2024, Xin and her teammate, Shamine Alves, continued to work together and presented their team findings at the American Auditory Society 2025 annual conference.

The study explored whether noise exposure, detected through a novel algorithm for audiometric noise notch, is associated with faster cognitive decline rate, independent of hearing loss and other factors. Read the abstract.

The lighting talk and poster presentation received a Mentored Student Research Poster Award. Congratulations, Xin and Shamine!
