KMSU – Noise is more than just a nuisance. Studies link noise pollution to higher risks of heart attacks, strokes, and other serious health issues. Dr. Rick Neitzel, a professor of environmental health sciences at the University of Michigan, shares his research on noise pollution with KMSU’s Karen Wright, host of the program Every Day is Earth Day.
“Some of our own research suggests that as many as one out of three Americans may be at risk of hearing loss just from noise in their environment,” says Neitzel, “and the number is actually higher when we start to think about risk of cardiovascular disease and some of these outcomes.”
