SARS-CoV-2 Research Project
2020 – 2022
This project took bioaerosol, surface and sewage samples in public places during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and estimated the infection risks after potential SARS-CoV-2 exposure through inhalation and surface contact to inform public health prevention policies.
Novel Gas Chromatography for Rapid, in situ Workplace Hazardous VOC Analysis
2018 – 2021
This project worked to develop a low-cost high-performance portable automated micro gas chromatograph (uGC) device based on a novel 3-dimensional (3-D) uGC design and highly sensitive high-speed vapor sensors. The goal is for it to perform rapid (<20 min), sensitive (ppt), and real-time simultaneous analysis of hundreds of workplace VOCs/VICs for worker exposure assessment.
Asbestos Abatement in Detroit
2016 – 2017
The efforts of many municipalities to demolish abandoned residential dwellings are hampered by the presence of asbestos-containing materials. Yet, the extent of such materials is unknown. This study sought to characterize asbestos-containing materials present in abandoned residential dwellings demolished in Detroit from 2014 to 2017.
