Award-winning month for the Exposure Research Lab

Congratulations to several members of the Exposure Lab, who recently won awards for their research posters and presentations. 

PhD candidate Abas Shkembi won first place for his poster at the annual Environmental Health Sciences Research Symposium, held March 19. His poster was titled “A Precautionary Approach to Confidence Intervals in Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology.”

Research Fellow Nathan Chen won a Directors’ Award for his poster at the 2026 ERC Regional Research Symposium. His poster was titled “Validation of using a mobile app to estimate whole-body vibration in a cargo van: a simulated experiment.” The symposium was hosted on March 27 by the U-M Center for Occupational Health and Safety Engineering. The theme was “Past, Present, and Future of Occupational Health & Safety.” 

MS candidate Kenedi Clinton won a first-place award for Most Engaging Talk at the U-M Black Graduate Research Showcase, held March 14. Kenedi discussed her research examining occupational noise exposure and its impact on cognitive health.

On March 30, Kenedi successfully defended her MS thesis. Her dissertation is titled “Decibels to Dementia? Investigating Occupational Noise and Cognitive Health.”
